Come gather in person for a celebration of contemporary performance + film in live space. You’ll find adventurous dance, theater, opera, music, film/video, works-in-progress and more! For the 2022 festival we are amplifying artists who have demonstrated creativity and resiliency in creating artistic work during these two challenging years (masks are required to keep everyone safe).
Returning to Pivot Arts where it performed to sold-out crowds, The Rosina Project is happy to present ROSINA: REMIXED! The hip-h’opera inspired by The Barber of Seville celebrates coming together with hit tracks and dance numbers from the original production, along with newly created material from their recent solo ventures in hip hop, beat boxing and more!
Beaten Path is an innovative dance-music performance that merges Southern Indian dance and Black American jazz influences, creating a passionate fusion of contemporary music and dance styles. This piece can be viewed on its own or in combination with Rosina: Remixed. On Saturday, this piece is performed along with Tuli Bera's Bangali Meye!
Come dialogue with the artists and get a sneak peek of FORCE!, a new opera in development, depicting a group of women and femmes of color who, while waiting to get into a prison, find a memory-erasing mold leaking from the waiting room toilet—and realize their futures may depend on entering the prison behind the waiting room wall.
Pivot Arts is proud to present highlights from the Chicago Dancemakers Forum lab artists with a showing of works-in-progress at 4pm followed by reception and a 7pm screening of dance films.
IN/MOTION and Pivot Arts present short dance films by top Chicago artists who created digital works during the pandemic. Works by Wills Glasspiegel, Nora Sharp + Grace McCants, Rena Butler, and MOMENTA.
Full Spectrum Features + Pivot Arts present the hilarious and heartfelt live screening debut of grelley. to kick off the festival and Gay Pride Month! Enhanced by a live performance, Alex Grelle and his outstanding cast act their way through a stream of film parodies connected through song and dance.
