Eli Newell
Artistic Associate
Eli Newell is an artist & organizer based in Chicago. His work visits the intersections of directing & writing for live performance, organizing for environmental justice, and multicultural faith-building in the Jewish community. Directing and/or writing credits include work at Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Raven Theatre, Strawdog Theater Company, Chicago Immersive and the Factory Theater, with associate/assistant credits at Goodman Theatre, Chicago Shakes, Northlight, Guthrie Theater and Ordway Center for the Performing Arts. As an organizer, Eli was Hub Coordinator of Sunrise Movement Chicago, organized with Grassroots Collaborative and the IL Green New Deal Network, trained with Increase the Peace, and facilitated educational content around human rights with Unsilence. A 2022 Avodah Justice Fellow, he is also a Jewish educator and community leader facilitating adolescent learning with Mishkan Chicago and independently with students all over the world.
