On the beautiful grounds of Senn High School, we will celebrate the arrival of Spring with an Earth Day Pageant Spectacle! The Pageant tells the story of the Young Earth Spirit of Edgewater, and how she is swept away from her mother by the Mighty Trash Monsters—when the spirit of Justice finally arrives, all the birds of the world join in to rescue her.
Celebrate Edgewater in the Spring with music and a performance! Bring a blanket and/or chairs!!
The Persephone Pageant is created by professional theater artists who use spectacle, puppetry, music and other genres as part of their work. Community groups have created elements of the pageant and EVERYONE is welcome to come and be a part of it. If you would like to participate, just show up at NOON at Senn High School’s front lawn 5900 N. Glenwood and you will get instruction and a brief rehearsal. If you would just like to watch the pageant, come at 1pm. The performance lasts about one hour. If it’s raining hard, everyone should come to Immanuel Lutheran at 1500 W. Elmdale!
Participating Community Groups Include:
Alderman Osterman and the 48th Ward Office
Edgewater Environmental Sustainability Project
Families Together Cooperative Nursery School
